Today we lost a great man and broadcaster in Harry Kalas. He was the voice of the Phillies since 1971 and the voice of NFL Films for 3 decades. I've been a Phillies fan my whole life and being born in 1970, I don't know any broadcaster other than Kalas. Whether listening to him on the radio or him calling games on TV, Harry made every game a joy, win or lose. I loved his sarcasm when he wouldn't agree with balls and strikes being called. He would say "there's a pitch right down the middle for a ball." That kind of stuff always made me laugh. He wasn't a homer and yet you knew he was the biggest fan.
His voice over work for NFL Films is legendary as well. It's hard to imagine anyone else doing his job as well as he did. We'll all miss you Harry!
